Bonjour tout le monde! Sunday in France by Wyatt Averett (Sunday, 2 June)

Bonjour tout le monde! This is Wyatt Averett ‘26 here to tell you all about my Sunday in France. 

It started off rather hectic, with a rushed exit out the house and Noah and I leaving for the Part-Dieu train station. We hopped on a bus, and 2 hours later, I awoke in Annecy, France. A beautiful yet quaint Swiss-esque town nestled within the Alps. I was immediately blown away by the massive lake and surrounding view. Unfortunately, bad weather cut our visit short, and Noah and I along with others hopped on the train back home. 


Upon arrival back to Lyon, Noah and I relaxed for a bit then met with some friends to watch the new Planet of the Apes movie. While a whole French movie was difficult to fully comprehend, it was still and enjoyable experience and a movie I would recommend watching, especially in 4D. It was a little scary being sprayed with water and jostled around, but a great time nevertheless. 


Now, Noah and I ride the A Metro back home to cap off a relaxing Sunday in preparation for a busy week. Thanks so much for reading!

  1. Class with my exchange student Class was weird today because I did not have any. I came in at 8:00 this morning and played a video game called Brawl Stars. I am trying to become a better video game player than the French exchange students who play all of the time. Luckily my exchange student lives very close to the school. Only a three minute walk away. So he was able to take me to school and then go back home. 2. Illusions Museum The first thing that we did today was see the museum of illusions which is very close to our school Lycée de Saint Marc. We arrived a little early for the museum so we had some time to burn. We ended up walking around and we found something to eat at Pret à manger. It is a healthy snack shop that sells yogurt and pastries and some smoothies. After that we went to the museum. We were the first ones there as it opened at 10:00am and that is when we showed up. First Day of our Last Week at Lycée Saint Marc by Conor Forry (Monday, 3 June)

  08h00-10h00 Me and the boys attended different classes in the morning at Lycée Saint Marc. I personally went to Chinese class where we made traditional necklaces. I found it incredible that most of the French students take English and Chinese (or Spanish) simultaneously. 10h00 Left for the Fourvière Basilica after class, didn’t take us long to get there and we started walking. Here’s a picture of us walking. We made it to the train station which takes us up to the top of the Fourviere Hill. We took the funicular which is a tram way. The tunnel into the hill was pretty long and surprisingly hot which was a welcoming relief as it got cold quick. Here is the lunch we were all given for the pique-nique (pick nick). ●       We made it to the top of Fourviere, and it did not take long. Our Trip Home by Wyatt Hartford (Friday, 7 June)

It was unfortunately our last day in France, and time for the trip home. As a group, we all arrived at La Place Bellecour at 7:00 a.m. in order to take our bus to the airport. With heavy hearts to leave our exchange families, but excitement to see our own again, we said our final goodbyes to our friends in Lyon. Surprisingly, the bus ride to the airport was not as loud as one would expect. Usually, whenever a group of high school students get the opportunity to board a bus, they take it as their chance to goof off and laugh with each other, usually louder than the chaperones would like. This  bus ride however, was uncharacteristically quiet. It seemed as though all the students were spent from their two weeks in Lyon, and perhaps sad as they began to realize that their time in France  was coming to an end.
